The engine sounds is part of the DNA of Motorsports and the fact that the FIA has confirmed that it is seriously evaluating the possibility of bringing back the iconic V10 engine, paired with fully sustainable fuels is a very good news.

FIA single-seater director Nikolas Tombazis explained that the current power units are too expensive, and simplifying them with a return to V10s might make sense, especially with the progress made in sustainable fuels.

Despite the interest in returning to V10s, the 2026 regulations are still set to include a 50/50 split between internal combustion engines and electric power. While the V10 engine’s return is not yet confirmed, the ongoing discussions and Hamilton’s backing suggest that fans and drivers are eager for a change that could bring back the unforgettable sound of F1’s past, while still pursuing sustainability goals.

The seven-time world champion has spoken out in favor of bringing back the iconic V10 engine to Formula 1, echoing sentiments expressed by Max Verstappen and others in the paddock. While discussing the sound of the current V6 engines, Hamilton recalled the first time he attended a race in 1996 and experienced the powerful sound of the V10s, which left a lasting impression on him. He believes the current V6 engines lack the same thrilling sound, which has become a major part of the sport’s appeal.

What are your thoughts on a potential V10 comeback? Would it enhance the F1 experience for you?
