Monza is always special. Imagine in Red. Overwhelmed and loved by the tifosi Ferrari,
Carlos Sainz is living his last Italian Grand Prix with Scuderia Ferrari at the historical Monza racetrack, although you can never say never. Let’s say at least for the near future. The agenda is packed with events, but Carlos doesn’t complain.

How do you approach this race weekend?
“I want to enjoy every single moment. For us it’s a job and you know how fast the days go at the track. This is why, I have started to stop, from time to time, and look around. The feeling of being a Ferrari driver is very special”.

How was the welcome of the Italian tifosi?
“Amazing as usual. The support that I receive is incredible”.

Any special message?
“I have been overwhelmed by the messages. They start with ‘Forza Ferrari’, and continue with cariño ‘we wish you the best’, ‘we will continue to support you also next year in Williams’. It warms the hearth”.

Last year here at Monza you scored the pole position and the podium.
“Yes, what an amazing memory. It was unbelievable; everybody was singing and calling my name. It was so emotional, I had goose bumps”.

And then you won Singapore, giving a great boost to the team.
“Another milestone”.

If you had to pick a moment with Ferrari, which one would you choose?
“The first test of machine at Fiorano. I remember the feeling when I wore the Ferrari overall for the first time and saw the red car. My father was there with me and he was emotional. I saw some tears in his eyes. This will remain a magic moment in my career”.

How do you see this weekend?
“I’m an optimistic realistic. We haven’t been the fastest team / car since the Monaco GP, but we were strong in Zandvoort so we will start from there”.

The support of the tifosi is a pressure or a motivation?
“It’s an extra motivation. The warmth we receive from the tifosi is an extra boost. The agenda can be super busy but I feel full of energy”.
