Sons of Speed Freddie Hunt and Matthias Lauda are back together at the heart of the Prancing Horse.
“Ask a child to draw a car, and they will certainly draw it red.” Enzo Ferrari was right, and everyone has colored a red car at least once in their life. When it comes to beauty, design, cars, and even culture and country, there is one word that encompasses them all: Ferrari.
Car and Country Quest is delighted to present its brand-new travel and drive series on September 25th at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena. Deepak could not have chosen a more iconic place to unveil the new series, which features three car enthusiasts and great friends: Deepak Narendran, Freddie Hunt (son of the legendary F1 champion James Hunt), and car collector Ashique Thahir. They explore the world behind the steering wheels of the most beautiful cars, immersing themselves in the countries and cultures they encounter along the way.
Returning to the roots, the new travel and drive series kicks off in stunning South India, Deepak’s and Ashique’s home region, showcasing its incredible diversity of coast, countryside, and cultural experiences. From the lush vegetation of Kerala to the green Tuscan hills explored aboard a Fiat 500, and on to the Motor Valley—the land where passion comes alive, home to some of the world’s leading automotive and motorcycle brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Maserati, Dallara, and Ducati—the series celebrates the legend of speed.
For the occasion, Freddie Hunt and special guest Matthias Lauda – already the protagonists of ‘Hunt Vs Lauda: The Next Generation’- together with Deepak and Ashique enjoyed an exclusive tour of the Ferrari HQ in Maranello and had the great opportunity to meet Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari Senior Vice President of Design.
Join Deepak and friends as they discover the secrets of Ferrari before taking three top Ferrari models onto the open roads of Maranello and the mountains surrounding Modena.
Deepak: “We are passionate about cars and engineering, and we love to explore the transport that makes each place we visit unique: from rickshaws and tuk-tuks to the snake boats of Kerala, and finally to the stunning supercars in Italy. We explored Garda Lake, Lucca in Tuscany, and Maranello. Freddie (Hunt) and Matthias (Lauda) took us to the Ferrari HQ for an exclusive visit. We had the amazing opportunity to have Flavio Manzoni himself showing us the design department, the secret studio where all Ferrari models take shape from scratch. Given the uniqueness of this visit, we dedicated two episodes to it, including exploring the Maranello area with Freddie, Matthias, and Raffaele De Simone, Ferrari test driver, aboard three iconic Ferrari models: the Roma, 296 GTB, and Purosangue.”
Freddie Hunt: “It was great to explore the world with friends like Deepak and Ashique and then be joined by Matthias Lauda in Maranello. Visiting the heart of Ferrari, the design department, was an unforgettable experience. I was impressed by the precision and the spotless, clinical ambiance of a factory that produces cars and engines. Of course, we are talking about excellence. Doing this visit with Matthias was special too. I must say they didn’t let us race on the road while I was driving the Ferrari 296 GTB, the most impressive car I have ever driven. But we did it in the simulator. And while Ferrari and the Enzo Ferrari are synonymous with racing and automotive excellence, I also loved Kerala—the people, the food, and the experience of jumping from snake boats to driving a Ferrari 458 and 488 through the lush green forests to spot wildlife. Regarding the presentation, I look forward to seeing everyone again at the Enzo Ferrari Museum. The Commendatore made history in motorsport: Ferrari is the only team to have competed in all F1 championships from 1950 to the present.”
Charlotte Fantelli, Series Director: “Working on Car and Country Quest has been an absolute joy. Not only has it been a privilege to travel the globe with such fantastic people, but as a car fanatic, delving into the top-secret world of Ferrari was a life-changing experience. I have spent my career working with the most passionate people and beautiful machines. Car and Country brings both of these elements together in the world’s most exquisite places. Deepak’s vision and creativity are matched only by the fun and friendship he brings to the series, making it a delight for the crew and viewers alike.”
